What's on the Discs?
Out of the Blue short documentary
Runtime: 17 minutes 57 seconds. Out of the Blue explores how marine mammal strandings are influenced by human activity, as well as what people are doing to minimize this influence. The film begins with an introduction to marine mammal strandings followed by an explanation of how commercial fishing, ship strikes and trash dumping are making matters worse. In response to these beachings, a collection of organizations comprising the Marine Mammal Stranding Network trains volunteers to provide care for animals that strand on the beach alive. Some organizations, such as the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network, are even equipped to bring in dolphins and other small whales to their facility and dedicate 24/7 care towards the animals' rehabilitation. All of the experts agree that education is the best hope for the resolution of these problems, and that is exactly what Out of the Blue aims to do!
